How To Drive An Automatic Car?

Pedals Of Automatic Car
An automatic car has only two pedals, the right pedal is the gas pedal and the other is the brake pedal. The left one is wider than the right one. To drive an AT car, you need to press the brake pedal to start the car.
In the automatic car, there is no clutch that’s why the left foot is always at rest. If you are used of driving manual transmission car, it will take some time to be habitual to put your left foot on the footrest.

- D (Drive): this will allow car to start and move

- L (Low): to set a gear at low
Some gearboxes will allow you to select 3, 2 or 1 gear. It will be helpful while slowing down the speed of your car such as driving on high or down slopes. Your car gets more staying and towing power in this condition.
How to Drive an Automatic Transmission?

Starting The Car
In order to start the car the position of the lever must be in park (P), now place your right foot on the brake and press it firmly till it reaches the ground. Insert the key in the ignition, turn the key and start your car.
Drive The Car
Move your car’s gear shifter to D which means drive, with your right foot still on the brake. Now gently release the brake pedal, you will see your car start moving forward. Press down the gas pedal to speed up your car. When you increase the speed, your car will automatically shift through the gears.
To Slow Down Or To Stop
Slow down the car using your right foot on the brake. Do practice on how to press the brake slowly to avoid slamming on the brakes. In order to stop your car, simply keep the gear in D and gently press the brake pedal, it will stop when the brake pedal will be totally down.
Reverse The Car
With your right foot still on the brake pedal, shift gear into R that means the reverse. Now lift your foot from the brake pedal and press gas pedal gently, it will start moving backwards.
Park The Car
In order to park the car, stop your car using brake pedal, shift gear into P (Park). Now turn off the car and congrats you did it!
