Is It Better To Shower At Night Or Morning?
Somehow taking a warm shower in the winter and getting in bed right after makes you sleep well and almost instantly. And there’s also nothing better than starting your day with a morning shower as well. But, the point to ponder is that is it better to take a shower at night time or daytime?

Science Has The Answer
Doctors and science most certainly have an array of views regarding this and it’s very difficult to deem one thing from the other to be true.
“A morning shower can help shake off sleep inertia and get you going, while an evening shower can be a relaxing part of a pre-bed routine,” says Michael Grandner, director of the Sleep and Health Research Program at the University of Arizona.
Sounds pretty true, but there actually some people who may react differently to the same activity. For some showers are energizing while for others it can totally bring down the energy level, irrespective of what time the shower was taken.
According to science and research, the level of your core temperature (inner body temperature) naturally begins to drop in the evening and it stays at this low point while we sleep. Hence, the famous caution regarding andy workouts after sunset. The physical activity, stalls sleep as it raises the core temperature which had naturally fallen to a low to help the body tune down and relax.
The Seasonal Effect
Most of us tend to switch up our shower habits as the season’s change. There are places around the globe that are too hot and too cold, with their varying temperatures taking their tolls Some of us our likey to take lesser showers in winters solely due to the reason that it’s cold and you couldn’t be bothered. Or It’s too hot and you can’t seem to leave the cold shower. Decisions, decisions!
As the temperature falls, our desire to stay warm becomes our first priority. Warm winter showers at night are the popular option amongst the masses as it naturally takes you into a snuggly cozy mood and you tend to just fall asleep with a lot of ease.
In summer, of course, no walking soul would deny that we sweat a lot and some of us might stink a lot too!A daily shower is a must. Irrespective what time in the day you take it. There is another category that prefers to take showers twice in a day. One in the morning right after you wake up and one at night before going to bed.
We’re all blessed with plenty of different skin types and the most extremes tend to be either oily or parched. Let’s see how both, reflect showering habits.
People with oily skin would prefer taking a shower more often than others and the reason is obvious. They’d rather dry out their skins from taking too much shower than bear being an oil slick! So be it nighttime or daytime, these people will hop in the shower anytime, any day!
People with dry skin will particularly try their best to avoid hot showers all in all as that would dry out their skin even further. They’d prefer taking cold showers and that too during the daytime. So, if you are a person with dry skin taking a shower during the day is better for you.
If you’re a fitness freak and enjoy your daily workouts, a daytime shower is your best bet. Most people begin their day with a morning workout, and that leaves one sweaty and a morning shower is better for them rather than staying sticky the entire day. A nighttime shower for someone for such a routine sounds oblivious and should not be followed unless you like smelling nasty! Haha!
Also, if you have a hard time waking up in the morning, a quick morning shower is the trick to help you get to work on time!
Wondering how insomnia is related to what time you take a shower, right? Well, let’s clear out all the fuss here. Showers generally trigger sleep as it aids in relaxing the muscles, hence easing the body into sleep when you get out of the shower.
Christopher Winter, M.D., a fellow at the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and medical director believes, “That rapid cooling after you get out of the shower or out of the bath tends to be a natural sleep inducer. So, it’s a nice way to fool your body into thinking it’s time to go to bed.”
There you go insomnia, solved!
Let’s divide the personalities into 2 main extremes.
Type A: This type, tends to be too hygienic (think above average).
Type B: This type, just simply hates getting wet.
For type A, it won’t matter what season it is, if it’s day or night. This person will shower! They only need as little a reason as using a public area for washing their hands to take a full-on shower! Haha! We all know one such person in our circle!
And for type B, they’ll have to have a fight in the mud or a site work that has a lot of physical activity involved, or a sweaty cardio to give them a push to take a shower!
So, what time is better really depends upon these few factors and we’re all different. What shower routine suits one, might not suit the other. No need to beat yourself to what time is better, just go with the flow of your routine and just take care of the weather, we don’t want you getting sick for taking too many showers in the winters!
